EXPERIENCE:

 

AH-Networks (Oct 09 – Present) Senior Systems Engineer

Serve as Senior Engineer in support of the Sate Dept. Domestic Network Modernization Project.  Responsibilities include surveying and base lining current Domestic MAN (to include 100+ sites), creating pricing and cost documentation for present and future WAN/MAN links, and creating and presenting domestic design documentation.  Responsible for creation and configuration of prospective design lab environment along with creation of initial, live device configurations.  Responsible for scheduling and attending meetings with various hardware/connectivity providers such as Cisco, Fibertech, FiberGate and partner Government Agencies.  Responsible for testing, installation and management of State Optical Core, a multi-site WAN infrastructure based on DWDM and SONET technologies over privately leased fiber optics.  Responsible for design, configuration, install and support of DoS DMVPN initiatives including ongoing, multi-site efforts.

 

CACI (Sept 08 – Sept 09)  Principal Systems Engineer

Serve as Lead Systems Engineer on SAP network for the White House Communications Agency.  Responsible for supporting complex routed and switched enterprise networks, to include VOIP Call Manager services.  Responsible for engineering, install and maintenance of enterprise wide Cisco infrastructure equipment as well as Network Management devices such as SolarWinds Orion, CiscoWorks and Gem Management devices.  Responsible for hub and spoke site surveys, installs and route optimization. Other responsibilities include Taclane Encryption Devices, Multipoint GRE tunnels, EIRGP routing, STP, VTP and QoS configuration and optimization.  

  

BAE Systems, INC. (March 2005 – Sept 08) – Principal Network Engineer

Serve as an on-site Senior Network Engineer for the DIA Communications Maintenance Group at Bolling AFB, D.C. to support multiple complex network infrastructures and outlying DAO (Defense Attache Offices) and Detachment offices. Responsible for troubleshooting all communication issues on the NIPRnet, SIPRnet, and SCI networks, including all WAN issues and internal DIA circuits worldwide. Responsible for designing and maintaining a complex LAN and WAN network utilizing OSPF & BGP routing, STP, VTP, and high availability redundancy. Also responsible for all hardware and Tier-3 troubleshooting of Cisco switches and routers, including: 6500, 4000, 3600, 3500, and 2900 series. Other responsibilities include configuring and troubleshooting Taclane encryption devices, Cisco PIX firewalls, and IPSec Encryption tunnels.

 

Sytex, INC. (March 2004 – March 2005) – Responsible for on-site network design and installation on classified/unclassified networks to include equipment specification, acquisition and install. Responsible for configuration and monitoring of all LAN Infrastructure devices (Cisco switches, routers and hubs) to include all layer two and three routing and filtering functions. Responsible for configuration, install, maintenance and use of Network Management software platforms (CiscoWorks, Orion, HP Openview, CiscoSecure ACS). Responsible for install, configuration and maintenance of CISCO VOIP implementation to include all local clients and local call manager.  Responsible for training and leadership of deployed military personnel serving in the network maintenance shop. on-site military LAN Infrastructure personnel.  Responsible for creation and maintenance of all network documentation related to infrastructure devices (visio maps, spreadsheets), physical and logical traffic flow and quality of service implementations. Responsible for direct troubleshooting and alleviation of network outages, infrastructure connectivity troubles and onsite hardware/software issues. Principle infrastructure design engineer in Al Dhafra Base Relocation Project.

 

ITEQ Inc, (Jan 02 – Jul 03) – Firewall Systems Technician- Monitor and maintain over 70 State Department firewalls in an enterprise level environment. Implemented approved configuration changes to enterprise firewalls and provided configuration fallback, if necessary. Performed Tier III, first response troubleshooting and fix actions in cases of firewall outage. Perform daily traffic monitoring, analysis and reporting. Monitored and maintained Enterprise level Mail Sweeper and Mail Relay Platforms. Perform first response troubleshooting and fix actions in cases of Mail Sweeper or Mail Relay outage. Compile daily mail usage statistics reports and managed daily shop logs of any actions of note. Monitored, maintained and troubleshot RAS connectivity provided to State Dept. users, worldwide. 

USAF, (Oct 02 – May 04) – Network Management Technician - Configure and maintain various network monitoring tools to include HP Openview, Ciscoworks and NGenius RTM. Shop Training Manager for incumbent military personnel dealing with fundamental networking topics. Monitored network metrics and error logs from various layer 2 and 3 devices and implemented fix actions when called for. Monitored real time network topology maps and provided first response in case of network outages. 

USAF, (Oct 01 – Oct 02) – Lead Network Infrastructure Technician - Configured and maintained network monitoring tools to include HP Openview, CiscoWorks and What's up Gold. Responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, install, and configuration of layer two and three devices on the Kunsan AFB MAN to include Cisco 1900, 2900, 3500, 5500 and Lightstream 1010 ATM series switches and Cisco 2500, 2600, 7200 and 7500 series routers. Responsible for the use of base IP space, to include DHCP services and static device assignment.  Responsible for survey, design and implementation of fix actions necessary to fulfill new customer requirements. Base design POC for planned upgrade from OC-12 ATM core to new, Gigabit Ethernet Core. 

USAF, (Sept 00 – Oct 01) – Network Operations Center Technician - Responsible for level 1-2 phone support for over 3000 customers on an enterprise, NT LAN environment. Responsible for creation and removal of user domain and E-mail accounts. Performed on-site small computer and printer maintenance. Responsible for initial diagnosis and proper assignment of network outages to the applicable technicians. Managed file and directory permissions for domain assets, enterprise wide. Responsible for tracking all calls and network outages via Remedy Web System.
